I love you LA, but I have to go

Hello friends,

It’s been far too long since I’ve posted an update but here we are, alas together again. The last six months have held more twists and turns than I can succinctly summarize but suffice it to say I’m tired of change and over LA. Los Angeles has been so long a city run by and made for cars its not even a good joke anymore. So when an accident took out my little Corolla, I knew it was time to go. February will be my last month here and I’ve got a case of the graduation goggles. (I’ve also been rewatching How I Met Your Mother so you may find many references in the next paragraphs and posts.)

Suddenly without the responsibility of next month’s rent looming above me, LA isn’t so bad. I had signed up for a full load of classes for next semester that I wasn’t looking forward to so I’ve dropped them and feel much more at ease.

Life up and changed on me and I’ve got to make my own changes in return. I’ll be spending the next few weeks eating my way through the city on a farewell tour if you will. But like The Specials, I know I’ll be back again and again. But goodbye is as good an excuse as any to splurge on my favorite places and try a few more.

Today I got to return to Fiona, a lovely bakery in Mid-City. While I think the place is charming and the food is pleasurable I can’t say its worth the trek from the westside or the unpleasant experience of being in Mid-City. The carrot cake was very tasty though and the bread is delightful.

Come back for more updates on my LA send off!

Best,

Allie
